The Nintendo Switch released worldwide on March 3, 2017. The biggest selling point behind the Switch was its hybrid nature. The Switch is a hybrid console offering a new way to play, by combining handheld gaming with console gaming. The system came packaged with a dock, allowing for users to slide the system in to become a console. On the flipside, users can slide the system out and immediately get into handheld gaming.

The Switch also introduced a new type of controller, the Joy-Cons. The Joy-Cons are incredibly unique and creative, they allow for users to slide in the controllers on the system. The controllers can be slid off the system for docked play. While the controllers are incredibly innovative, Switch owners have experienced a lot of issues with them. The Joy-Cons are notorious for experiencing stick-drift, which caused Nintendo to make free repairs for the controllers.

The Switch’s greatest strength is its game library, offering users a wide variety of different genres. The Switch is home to some of the best video games to have ever been made, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Every year, the Switch library continues to grow and offers its users unique experiences. While the Switch is incredibly weak when compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series, the Switch makes up for it in its unique design and game library. The Switch’s future is incredibly bright, and users can’t wait to see what types of unique experiences the Switch successor will bring.
